Great appetizer for the holidays
This is a great recipe for a hot appetizer. Hope everyone enjoys these at some time or another.
Here's a "shout out" to Mrs. Hogan and Julie H, who both used to make these for Sunday School parties. I couldn't find their exact recipes, but I found one that has relatively the same ingredients. These are THE BOMB!
HOT HAM & SWISS POPPYSEED SANDWICHES
1 package of little diner rolls (comes in a rectangular tin)
Shaved honey ham or thin sliced deli ham
Sliced Swiss Cheese
Sauce:
1 stick butter
2 tsp Mustard
3/4 tsp Poppy seeds
l l/2 tsp onion flakes (dried minced)
1/4 tsp onion powder
3/4 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
Melt all ingredients for sauce in a sauce pan until mixed well. Before baking, hand cut dinner rolls and put on ham and cheese. Put tops on sandwiches. Pour sauce on sandwiches cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. (or can be done early in the morning for later in the evening.) Remove plastic wrap before baking. Bake at 300-325 degrees depending on intensity of oven for l0 minutes or until cheese is melted***Be careful they burn EASILY!!!
