Memory Monday Psalm 37 (v 5-9)

For Memory Monday, I still want to continue with Psalm 37.  I am determined to memorize the whole chapter!    This week, I will be working on  verses 5~9.    I hope and pray that everyone has a great week!  Mine is going to be super busy, since it's the last week before Christmas and since Rob and I will be on the road during Christmas week.

Psalm 37 (New International Version)

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil
9 For evil men will be cut off,
but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.

The Power of Scripture Recall

Whew!  What a day!  Being that I'm still in the corporate world as a hospital manager, I am still under the pressures that are placed on me by many people who are outside of my family.  These pressures and stresses can be overwhelming to the child of God who longs to be at home raising a family...but is just not blessed with a child yet.  Some days I sit in my office and beg the Lord to "take me out of this"!  But, it's all in His timing and not mine. 

Well, today folks, was definitley one of "those" days. It was so ironic to me that my scripture that I have been working on memorizing was just finished a couple of days ago (see this post). Suffice it to say that God is not only REAL, but He is RELEVANT TO OUR LIVES! He has foreknowledge of the situations that we are going to be placed in. He knows the outcomes as well. I can truly testify today that God is still in control and that I thank Him for the "desire of my heart" (placed there by Him) to memorize scripture.

If this encourages just one person to do memorization, and I pray that it will, then thank you Lord. Please give us all a desire to "hide Your word in our hearts so that we may not sin against You." I would like to also thank Joann at The Simple Wife for being an encourager and a partner in this path to memorization.

Memory Monday....on Tuesday....all caught up!

Well, I'm finally caught up (yeah!!)....I was behind on my Memory Monday since Rob and I have been sick (not all the way well yet, but we're getting there...thank you to all of those who have sent get well wishes!).  I think I will move on to verses 5-6 for the rest of this week and then pick up with another 4 verses next Monday.

Well...here it goes:

Psalm 37:1-4
(1) Do not fret because of evil me or be envious of those who do wrong.  (2) For like the grass they will wither and die, for like the green plants, they will soon die away. (3) Trust in the Lord and do good.  Dwell in the land and enjoy His safe pasture. (4) Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

I also already knew verse 4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."....so I've just got to work on verses 2-3 in the middle. 

The BIGGEST little verse

As I was reading my devotion this morning, on patience (which I confess, I possess very little when it comes to certain things), a verse in Habakkuk 2:3 just jumped out.  It's a very "user friendly verse".  It small, tiny, compact and will fit even in the smallest of pockets or purses.  But small as it may be in size, it's GI-NORMOUS the message that it packs.  It's got a message that is applicable to almost anything that I may run across in my daily struggle to gain more patients patience (sorry, I work in the Healthcare industry...can you see where I sometimes have to ask for patience??) At any rate, this very useful morsel that God has given to us in Habakkuk simply says this: "Though it tarry, WAIT for it."
How great is that verse I ask you?  I hope that you will glean from it as much as I did.  And even though some of us are working hard on our commitments to Memory Monday and Joanne Heim's site "The Simple Wife", this one is a "gimme".  We can all commit this verse to memory instantaneously.  See how easy that was....now we are armed with another morsel of God's instruction to us that is ready and available when you go to reach........ah but wait......."Though it tarry, WAIT for it!".
