Memory Monday (Galatians 5:1)

My goodness....I have been out of Memory Monday for way too long! I don't like the idea that I have been so busy with work that I have failed to devote the time that I would like to devote to scripture memorization. At any rate, I'm back to Memory Monday and excited to get back in the swing of things! This week I will be memorizing from Galatians.

Memory Monday--Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)

Happy Monday everyone! Well, my verse for this week is (again) from the study that Rob and I are doing with our ABF class at our church (for those of you wondering, at our church, ABF = Adult Bible Fellowship, fka "Sunday School"). We are in the middle of "I Promise", by Gary Smalley...and I must tell you, it's been GREAT. Each week, there is a different verse that is the memory verse for everyone, so I'm carrying that over to Memory Monday. I'll pick back up with some other things that I want to work on once the study is over.  Well, I hope that everyone has a great week.  Since we are nearing the end of the fiscal year at work, mine will be another busy one for sure!

Memory Monday--Proverbs 31:10-11

Well, like they say..."better late than never!". Whew....what a day! But, here are my verses for this week:

10 Who[b] can find a virtuous[c] wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain. Proverbs 31:10-11

Memory Monday--Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

It's that time again! Thank you for challenging us Joanne....I look forward to this every week! Well, I'll jump right on in the pool here with last week's verse...

"Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life." Proverbs 4:23

For this week, I'm continuing with the next verse in our Bible Study, "I Promise", by Gary Smalley. Our class is REALLY enjoying this study. I would highly encourage it if you are looking for a great couples study. Anyhow....our verse for this week is:

"Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

We were challenged this week in our ABF (Adult Bible Fellowship, fka "Sunday School") to memorize a verse that was a part of our lesson. We have just begun the Gary Smalley study called "I Promise". I'll have to tell you, so far, we have thoroughly enjoyed it...especially the homework. At any rate, my Memory Monday's will now be in line with our study for the next few weeks. So, with that said, our verse this week is:

Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."

Memory Monday (Ruth 1:16-17)

Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. and walk in love as Christ has also loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice for a sweet smelling aroma."

So this week, my verse will be from Ruth 1:16-17. These verses are so important in marriage. I was just reminding my husband of them today. There are no conditions for me...only my vows and only these verses and my holy covenant before God. Sometimes it is hard for our flesh to be so accepting of a mate's unconditional love and acceptance of us. I want these verses to always be embedded in the very fibers of each of our hearts. Memory Monday (Ephesians 5:1-2)

Well, I'm here...it's 10:00, but I'm here, with the "crud", but here nonetheless! Here we go...

"8 Finally bretheren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things ae lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you."

For this week, I am going to move to Ephesians 5:1-2, which state:

Memory Monday (Philippians 4:8-9)

Well...it's good to finally be back to Memory Monday after a little time off. I know that I want to finish Psalm 37, but this week, I am going to move to Philipians to a couple of verses that I need to add to some prior memorization. I contantly quote Philipians 4:6-7 to myself, but I would like to add verses 8 & 9 to that. I can apply verses 6 & 7 to just about every second of the day sometimes. It runs over and over in my head, especially since I am "anxious" by nature. The verses simply state:

"6 Be anxious for nothing but in everything (ALL things), by prayer and suppplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God; 7 and the peace of God which surpasses all (of your) understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."

So this week, I would like to expand on that and add the next verses, which state:

Memory Monday to be continued

Well, it's been a very long week, to say the least. I will have to admit that I got NOWHERE with my memory verses from Memory Monday.  Here are some of the reasons why:

If you remember a while back, I wrote a post about the mother of 0ne of my employees, who was struggling with a mysterious illness and had been hospitalized on December 13th.  I regret to tell you that she lost her battle with this illness (I forgot to bring home my written piece of paper with the name...it's a VERY long name).  Mrs. Jackie went home to be with the Lord a few days ago...the funeral was today.  Please continue to pray for strength for her seven children and all of the grandchildren.  The grandchildren are really having a hard time, since most of them haven't been able to see their "MawMaw" since before she was hospitalized over a month ago...and now she's gone.  Thankfully, Mrs. Jackie was a believer and has gone home to be with the Lord and has now been reunited with her husband, who passed away several years ago. 

Also, Rob's Dad has been hospitalized and is struggling with some very serious heart issues, along with other illnesses that are making the battle even harder.  Please make him a matter of prayer this week.  I have not shared the whole story yet (and I will), but Rob was only reunited with his Dad recently after not seeing him in 36 years.  His Dad is a believer and we are so thankful that he has eternal salvation.  Now, the only issue is that Rob and his Dad desperately want to have more time together.  Unfortunately, we live 14 hours apart from Rob's Dad and step-Mom.  So, please pray tha both Rob and his dad will be able to spend many more times together.  We are SO blessed to have been able to spend almost all of Christmas week with them...they are memories that are emblazed in our minds...we will cherish them always.  I have handwritten out some of their story and hope to be able to share more later.  Right now, however, I'm just focused on Rob and his Dad and their times together. 

With all of that said, I'll try and get back on track with my memorization for next week.  I LOVE the accountability of the Memory Monday group....please excuse me for this week!

Memory Monday Psalm 37 (v 12-14)

Well, it's Monday again! The weekend is gone, but fortunately for me, even though it's Monday, I'M OFF TODAY! YIPPY!! Since Rob works for a municipality and has a holiday today, I decided to take a vacation day from work. But, nevertheless, it's still Memory Monday!

So, to catch you up, here is where I am so far in my endeavor to memorize Psalm 37.  This past week I finished with verses 9-11 but I have typed out what I have memorized up to today:

PSALM 37:1-11 (NIV)

1 Do not fret because of those who do evil or be envious of those who do wrong 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like the green plants they will soon die away. 3 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: 6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. 7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. 8 Refrain from anger and turn away from wrath. Do not fret--it only leads to evil. 9 For evil men will be cut off , but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. 10 A little while and the wicked will be no more; though you will look for them but they will not be found. 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace. 

SO...now I'm up to this week's verses, which will be verses 12-14:

12 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for He knows their day is coming. 14 The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright.

Memory Monday Psalm 37 (v 12-13)

Yes, I know that it's late Sunday night, but it's almost Monday, so I'm making my post now so that I can be more efficient in the morning!  Well, last week I ended up with verses 9-11 in Psalm 37 which state this:

9 For evil men will be cut off but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the Land.  10  A little while and the wicked will be cut off. Though you You will look for them they will not be found.  11  But the The meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.

Well, this week, I press forward in Psalm 37. I will be working  on Verses 12-13 in the passage:

"12 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; 13 But the Lord laughs at the wicked, for He knows their day is coming."

Memory Monday Psalm 37 (v 9-11)

Well, I'm not finished to the point that I would like to be, but here is what I have from last week. I'm still in Psalm 37 and determined to stay there. Verse 8 says:

"Refrain from anger and turn from wrath--do not fret, it only leads to evil."

I don't like that I have been so cusy that I have not been able to spend the time that I would desire to spend on memorization, but I'm praying that due to my desire to "simplify" in this new year, I will gain the time that I feel that I'm missing right now. I will pick up with verses 9-11 this week...and I'M DETERMINED!! Those verses tell us:

9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land. 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.

I don't know about you, but I want to "inherit the land and enjoy great peace". God's promises are good and HE is good and HE is peaceful--ALL THE TIME.

Memory Monday--last one of the year!

Well, this is the last Memory Monday of 2008! I'm so excited to see what paths that we all continue to go down with our Memory Monday's for 2009!  I just got in last night from being gone out of town, so I have lots of things going on this week, with work in the midst.  I am praying that God will allow me to continue down this path of memorization with minimal adverse outside obstacles this week. 

So, with that said, I'm going to leave you with where I am in Psalm 37, which is at verse 7.  With the Christmas festivities, I didn't complete as much as I would have liked to, so I will adjust for this week.  "7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of when men who succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes." 

As for the verses for this week, I will continue in Psalm 37 with 8-10, which state: 

"8  Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it only leads to evil.  9 For evil men will be cut off but those who hope in the lord will inherit the land.  10 A little while and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found."

Memory Monday (a little tardy) and A Christmas Blessing

Well, I'm a day late again, but I believe it was for a good cause. Rob and I left Monday night at about 11:00pm and drove for 14 hours to North Carolina for a VERY special Christmas.  We received the greatest Christmas present that we ever could have received this year.  We actually got this present a couple of months ago, but I purposely haven't shared with all of you yet because I wanted it to be a big Christmas surprise. 

Rob was recently reunited with his Dad after 36 years of being apart.  Rob had not see him since he was about 5 years old.  I will be posting more about the journey that we have all made over the last 2 months during this most GLORIOUS reunion. Even better, Rob's newly found fmaily are also Believers, which has made everything even that much sweeter.  And even more, we have gained a step mother who is SO very special and a step brother and sister that we are THRILLED about (and even little Izzy, the dog!) 

The verses that I was able to complete this week are especially meaningful this week, considering the reunion and everything that it has encompassed on both sides.  Psalm 37:5-6 says "Commit your way to the Lord and HE WILL DO THIS.  He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your causes like the noonday sun."  I didn't finish verses 7-9, but will finish them this week.  The Verses for this week are also quite meaningful right now as well.  They simply say (5-9): 

"Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.  Refrain from anger and turn away from wrath;  do not fret--it only leads to evil.  For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land."

I hope that all of my friends in the blogosphere are enjoying a very meaningful and special time with your families...just as we are now.  What a VERY special Christmas this has been for us already...and the week isn't even over yet!  Stay tuned in the next couple of weeks...I will be sharing our story from this year and pray that it will give hope to many people in circumstances like ours and even in other circumstances that appear "hopeless".  This is definitely a season of HOPE.....I hope that you will all enjoy the bounty of the Lord in your lives as we have.

Memory Monday Psalm 37 (v 5-9)

For Memory Monday, I still want to continue with Psalm 37.  I am determined to memorize the whole chapter!    This week, I will be working on  verses 5~9.    I hope and pray that everyone has a great week!  Mine is going to be super busy, since it's the last week before Christmas and since Rob and I will be on the road during Christmas week.

The Power of Scripture Recall

Whew!  What a day!  Being that I'm still in the corporate world as a hospital manager, I am still under the pressures that are placed on me by many people who are outside of my family.  These pressures and stresses can be overwhelming to the child of God who longs to be at home raising a family...but is just not blessed with a child yet.  Some days I sit in my office and beg the Lord to "take me out of this"!  But, it's all in His timing and not mine. 

Well, today folks, was definitley one of "those" days. It was so ironic to me that my scripture that I have been working on memorizing was just finished a couple of days ago (see this post). Suffice it to say that God is not only REAL, but He is RELEVANT TO OUR LIVES! He has foreknowledge of the situations that we are going to be placed in. He knows the outcomes as well. I can truly testify today that God is still in control and that I thank Him for the "desire of my heart" (placed there by Him) to memorize scripture.

If this encourages just one person to do memorization, and I pray that it will, then thank you Lord. Please give us all a desire to "hide Your word in our hearts so that we may not sin against You." I would like to also thank Joann at The Simple Wife for being an encourager and a partner in this path to memorization.
